Hello, Students
This quarter you will learn to read for better comprehension. The students in this class are co-enrolled with Mr. Clark in his writing class. Sometimes, but not always, the work you do in our classes is related.
Students in this class want to move on to college level programs that require strong personal motivation, good study habits, and solid reading and writing skills. The focus in the ABE program is shifting; the program will how be more about jobs, careers, and college readiness; everyone wants a good living, a good wage--work that your education can help you get.
This class will challenge you. Previous students often report that the class is helpful to them. The have also said that it is rigorous and challenging.
There will be homework, but you do not need to buy any textbooks.
To be successful, you will put in about as many hours outside of class as you do in class.
Open the syllabus for this course. It gives you overview of what you will be expected to do, and it gives you the basic classroom rules.
Contact me, the instructor, if you have questions.
I look forward to helping you achieve your personal goals.
Sincerely,
Kathy Harrigan
