Transition-Basic Skills Syllabus:
A SYLLABUS is a contract between an instructor and students. It is actually an agreement that spells out what will be done, how it will be done, and who is responsible for what. All college classes have a syllabus. For this class, students will go over the syllabus with Ms. Harrigan in the first days of the quarter and take a short quiz. New students who join after the first days will be directed to read the syllabus on their own and to check with the instructor afterwards so she can emphasize key points, like the attendance and late work policies. If you have a question about the syllabus, you should ask right away.
YOUR CHOICE: Although Ms. Harrigan prefers full classes, she encourages people to drop the class if they realize that they cannot abide by the course policies or can't meet the demands of the class right now. If the rules or work are not what you want, then this is not the class for you and you will probably not be successful. If you know you cannot meet the attendance policy, in particular, you can drop now and return when your schedule works with the course.
