Tuesday:
Preview and read essay of student choice, "Can Animals Tell If There Will Be An Earthquake?" from Phenomena. What evidence that the author use to support the claim? Answer questions, orally.
Assignment: Answer questions for the above essay in writing.
Wednesday:
Preview and read essay of student choice, "Spontaneous Human Combustion" from Phenomena. Discuss. How "scientifically" true is this essay? What is the author's proof?
Finish written answers to questions for "Can Animals Tell If There Will Be an Earthquake?"
Turn in written assignment for "Can Animals Tell If There Will Be an Earthquake?"
Thursday:
Preview and read third essay of student choice "Wild Boy...." Discuss. How do you know that this story is true and not just a story that someone made up?
Assignment: answer written questions. Turn these in tomorrow.
Friday:
Turn in "Wild Boy..." assignment.
Speed reading exercises--practice and then record speed with instructor.
