- Preview, read, and discuss the article about firefighting, "Father's Day Rescue," handed out by instructor. This article was written for Guideposts Magazine, but has been adapted for this class. Your assignment gives the original article link, but the assignment itself is to be used with the adapted article your instructor has given you.
Tuesday:
- Discuss "inference"--drawing reasonable conclusions from what you read.
- Get hard copy of the assignment (comprehension, inference, vocabulary, summary, and written response) for "Father's Day Rescue" and work on it in class after reviewing the article. The completed assignment is due on Thursday. See the assignment in the file below.

NO CLASS--IT IS "ADVISING DAY" for students who will take credit classes next quarter. If you are planning on taking only ABE classes next quarter, then you do not need to come to Advising Day workshops.

More reading/discussion of firefighting-- The Ten Standards of Firefighting.
We will paraphrase each of the ten standards so that they make sense to us, non-firefighters. They are written in technical language that we can translate to everyday language.
You will look up 15 words in the standards so that you can write a paraphrase for each standard after our discussion. Here is the assignment, below. It is due on Monday.
